Prenatal Visit Guide - can be adjusted to your needs:
What to expect:
Early and frequent communication with your midwife throughout your early labor. Home labor assessment "triage" visit as appropriate, direct admission to labor and delivery at the hospital if planned or needed for any reason.
Postpartum care includes four visits. At each visit, the midwife or registered nurse will:
Your first visit will be 24-48 hours after birth, wherever you are, home or hospital.
Your second visit will be one week after birth at your home. Your third visit will be three weeks after birth at your home. Your last scheduled visit will be six weeks after your birth, and will take place at our office.
This is when we will discuss family planning, contraception, well-woman and preventative healthcare. We can perform a gentle PAP and HPV testing if you are due. We will also schedule a 3 month call to check in and ensure that you and your baby are thriving, or to share any resources that may help you at that time.
Well Woman Care is offered annually or as needed for basic gynecological needs as well as health maintenance aka preventative health care.
These visits are scheduled for 1 hour and allow time to discuss your health, answer questions, discuss current recommendations and provide an experience that is individualized and respectful.
A preconception visit can be a mindful and empowering way to begin your journey to parenthood and can prevent, reduce, and raise awareness around unexpected perinatal outcomes.
Clients can look forward to participating in a comprehensive health history intake, physical assessment (including Pap if appropriate and desired) and any blood, urine or cultures that are appropriate.
Review of medical, surgical, psychological, and life history, nutrition, activity, habits, lifestyle choices, environmental and other factors.
Review and discussion of fertility and cycle awareness, normal and possible signs and symptoms of pregnancy.
Similar to a preconception visit, you can look forward to participating in a comprehensive health history intake, physical assessment (including Pap if appropriate and desired) and any blood, urine or cultures that are appropriate.
Your midwife will take time to hear your wishes and intentions and review the available options for managing your fertility. The discussion will include risks, benefits, alternatives and the option of doing nothing to help you select a method that is safe, effective, and aligned with your desired outcome and value system.
Some options include; hormonal and non-hormonal methods of birth control. Barrier methods, prescribed products such as The Pill, Nuvaring, Phexxi, etc..
We collaborate with MD's who provide compassionate abortion care to those desiring those services.
